GTA 6 Online

GTA 6 Online has not been officially detailed, so its launch date, features and progression are all unknown. Even so, an online mode set in Leonida is very likely, given how central GTA Online has been to Rockstar since 2013. This page covers what we can reasonably expect and will be updated as soon as Rockstar shares details.

The GTA 6 release date is 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. Whether online arrives on day one or later is one of the biggest open questions.

Will GTA 6 have an online mode?

Almost certainly, though Rockstar has not said how it will work. GTA Online launched in October 2013, a few weeks after GTA V, and grew into one of the most played online games of its generation. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed the same pattern with Red Dead Online.

The pre-order offer includes one month of GTA+ for digital buyers, which shows Rockstar's subscription service is part of the GTA 6 plan. Details are on GTA 6 pre-order bonuses.

When will GTA 6 Online come out?

Unknown. GTA Online followed GTA V by a couple of weeks, and Red Dead Online arrived as a beta about a month after Red Dead Redemption 2. A short delay after the story mode launch would fit that history, but it is not confirmed.

What features could GTA 6 Online have?

If Rockstar builds on GTA Online, we expect:

• Custom characters, created from scratch and separate from Jason and Lucia.
• Heists, planned with friends, as covered on GTA 6 heists.
• Businesses and properties, such as clubs, garages and fronts. See properties and businesses.
• Races, deathmatches and adversary modes across Leonida.
• Regular updates adding new areas, vehicles and missions.

The trailers' focus on social media, livestreams and viral clips also feels made for online play, with fame or followers as a possible progression system. That idea is speculation.

Will GTA Online progress transfer to GTA 6?

Nothing has been announced. GTA Online has moved between console generations before, but moving to a brand-new game and map is a different challenge. Do not count on bringing your money, cars or properties over.

Will GTA 6 Online be on PC?

Unknown. GTA Online was included with GTA 5, and we expect GTA 6's online mode to be included with the game, but it has not been confirmed.
