Cal Hampton is a supporting character in GTA 6 and one of Jason Duval's closest friends and associates. Rockstar introduced him in Trailer 2 and on the official site, where he comes across as the kind of guy who would rather stay home with his radio than go out.
Who is Cal Hampton in GTA 6?
Cal is a conspiracy-minded homebody. He is suspicious of authority, comfortable in his own company and convinced that most of what the world tells him is a lie.
His hobby is listening in on Coast Guard communications. In a game about drug running and smuggling around the Leonida Keys, that habit could be extremely useful to Jason and his crew.
How is Cal connected to Jason?
Rockstar describes Cal as Jason's friend and associate, which suggests he does more than hang out. He seems to know about Jason's line of work and may help out from the sidelines.
We expect Cal to work as an information source, warning Jason when patrols are nearby or tipping him off about shipments. If Rockstar follows its usual approach, he may also give out side jobs or offer comic relief between bigger story beats.
What will Cal Hampton do in the story?
Rockstar has not said, so anything here is expectation. Characters like Cal often fill the role that Lester filled in GTA 5: the friend with useful knowledge and questionable social skills.
Given his radio listening, it is likely Cal ties into boat-based missions and smuggling runs. Our GTA 6 boats page covers the boats seen so far, and the minor characters guide looks at others who may cross his path.
