The GTA 6 story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a couple who team up for a Bonnie and Clyde style crime spree across the state of Leonida. Rockstar has shown their partnership across three trailers, and while the full plot is under wraps, the outline is clear enough to piece together.
What is the GTA 6 story about?
At its heart, Grand Theft Auto 6 is a crime love story. Lucia Caminos starts in Leonida Penitentiary, and Jason Duval is a former soldier working for drug runners in the Keys. Together they find that small jobs lead to bigger ones, and that the deeper they go, the harder it becomes to get out.
Rockstar's official description says a sure-thing score goes wrong and drops the pair into a criminal conspiracy that stretches across Leonida. That gives the story a sense of escalation, with the couple pulled further from where they began.
How do Jason and Lucia meet?
The trailers and official profiles show them already as a couple, but the game is likely to cover how they came together. Lucia's time in prison and Jason's work in the Keys suggest their paths cross around her release, though Rockstar has not confirmed the details.
We expect the early hours to establish each of them separately before the story merges their lives. That would mirror how GTA 5 introduced its leads one by one.
What do the trailers reveal about the plot?
Each trailer adds a piece:
- Trailer 1 opens with Lucia in prison and shows the couple robbing a convenience store together.
- Trailer 2 introduces the supporting cast and focuses on the couple's bond, with romance, danger and plenty of high-speed escapes.
- The launch trailer sets up their crime spree across Leonida, from Vice City to the Keys and beyond.

Who else is part of the story?
The official site profiles six supporting characters. Cal Hampton is Jason's friend, Brian Heder gives him a home in the Keys, and Raul Bautista recruits talent for bank jobs. In Vice City, Boobie Ike, Dre'Quan Priest and the rap duo Real Dimez bring in the music and nightlife world.
It is likely these characters represent different paths into crime, each pulling the couple in a new direction. Our minor characters page covers the faces outside this core group.
How does the story end?
Nobody outside Rockstar knows yet. The Bonnie and Clyde framing invites a tragic ending, but Rockstar may subvert that expectation. For the most popular guesses, see our story theories page, and keep in mind they are speculation.
