GTA 6 street races have not been confirmed, but racing has been a side activity in almost every GTA, and the trailers are full of fast cars, tuned bikes and crowds watching stunts. A city like Vice City at night looks built for it.

Here is what we expect, based on past games and what the footage shows.

Does GTA 6 have street races?

Likely. GTA Vice City, San Andreas, GTA 4 and GTA 5 all had street races. In GTA 5, Franklin could take part in races around Los Santos, and GTA Online later added a whole car meet scene. Official GTA 6 screenshots show a crowd watching a motorcycle stunt party in a Southside alley, which points to a living street culture.

Will there be car meets?

GTA Online's car meet, a place to show off and test tuned cars, was a hit. Speculation: a car meet in story mode would suit Leonida, with tuned cars from our car customisation page on show. Rockstar has not hinted at it.

What kinds of races could appear?

Likely and speculative race types, based on past games and the map:

  • Street races through Vice City and along Ocean Drive. See our Ocean Drive at night route.
  • Off-road races in the hills of Mount Kalaga National Park, where dirt bike riders appear in screenshots.
  • Sea races around the Keys, as GTA 5 had.
  • Airboat races through Grassrivers, which would be new to the series.

Will there be stunt jumps?

Unique stunt jumps have been in every 3D GTA. Likely: they return, and we will mark them on the interactive map after launch. See also collectibles.

Will racing get you a wanted level?

Racing through traffic in GTA 5 rarely drew the police unless you hit them. The GTA 6 trailers show a lot of police attention on the streets, so speculation: street racing could carry more risk this time. See the wanted system.

Will GTA 6 have car meets?

Unknown. GTA Online had a popular car meet, so one is possible in GTA 6 Online at least.

Not confirmed, but stunt jumps have been in every 3D GTA, so they are very likely.

Can you race boats in GTA 6?

GTA 5 had sea races, and GTA 6 has plenty of boats, so boat races are likely.
