The best GTA 6 scenic drive is likely the run from Vice City south across the long highway bridges to the Leonida Keys, a route modelled on Florida's real Overseas Highway and already shown in the trailers. Exact road names and distances are not known yet, so this step-by-step route is our planned version, ready to check against the real map on launch day.

It is the kind of drive that works with no mission at all. Just a car, a radio station and the sea on both sides.

Where does the GTA 6 Keys drive start?

Start in Vice City, ideally on the beach side so you get a coastal view from the first minute. Pick a convertible or a muscle car, both of which feature in the trailers, from our GTA 6 vehicles guide.

What is the best route to the Leonida Keys?

Here is the route we expect to work, step by step:

  1. Leave Vice City heading south along the coastal road, keeping the water on your left.
  2. Pass through the southern suburbs, where the city thins into strip malls, gas stations and marinas.
  3. Join the main highway as it bends towards the Keys. Expect the traffic to drop off here.
  4. Cross the first of the long highway bridges. This is the moment shown in the trailers, with open water all around.
  5. Stop at an island town for a fuel or food break. Bait shops and dockside bars feel very likely.
  6. Continue across the longer bridges, where the views are widest at sunset.
  7. Finish at the far end of the Leonida Keys, near where Jason Duval works for local drug runners.

You will be able to trace each stop on our interactive map once the road network is confirmed.

When is the best time to do the drive?

Golden hour, the last hour before sunset, should give the best light on the water. If GTA 6 has the dynamic weather we expect, a passing storm over the bridges could be spectacular too.

Night drives will be quieter and darker, with the bridges lit by their lamps. Good for atmosphere, harder for sightseeing.

What should you watch out for?

The Keys are tied to smuggling in GTA 6's story, and Coast Guard activity is mentioned in Cal Hampton's profile, since he listens in on their radio. Driving with a wanted level across a long bridge with no exits is a bad idea. Clear your stars before you set off.

Keep an eye out for boats beneath you, too. The Keys are a natural place to switch to the water, as covered on GTA 6 boats.

FAQ

Is the Overseas Highway in GTA 6?

A version of it appears to be. The trailers show long highway bridges across open water in the Leonida Keys, clearly inspired by Florida's Overseas Highway.

How long is the drive from Vice City to the Keys in GTA 6?

Unknown until launch. We will time it and update this page once the game is out.

What is the best car for the Keys drive?

Any convertible or classic muscle car suits the route. Both types appear in the trailers.

Can you drive all the way to the end of the Keys?

We expect so, but the full extent of the Keys road has not been confirmed.
