GTA 6 Fishing, Hunting and Boating
GTA 6 looks set to have the richest outdoor life in the series, with boats, swamps and wildlife all over the trailers. Here is what fishing, hunting and boating in Leonida are likely to involve.

GTA 6 fishing, hunting and boating are not officially confirmed as side activities, but the trailers make a strong case that outdoor life will be a big part of the game. Leonida is a state of coastlines, swamps and forests, and Rockstar has filled its footage with boats, alligators and birds.
This page sorts what has actually been shown from what we expect, so you know what to look for on 19 November 2026.
Does GTA 6 have fishing?
Rockstar has not announced fishing in Grand Theft Auto 6. What we do know is that the trailers show a lot of water: speedboats off Vice City, airboats in the swamps and jet skis along the beaches. A state modelled on Florida without anglers would feel odd.
Red Dead Redemption 2 had a full fishing system with lures, bait and species that lived in specific waters. If Rockstar brings a lighter version of that to GTA VI, we would expect it in places like the Leonida Keys, where piers, flats and bridges suit casting a line.
Treat any talk of fish species, rods or tournaments as speculation for now.

Can you hunt in GTA 6?
Hunting is also unconfirmed. The trailers do show plenty of animals, including alligators, flamingos and other birds, and you can read more about them on our GTA 6 wildlife page.
GTA 5 had a small hunting side activity with Cletus, and Red Dead 2 went much deeper. We think the most likely shape for GTA 6 is something in between: animals that react to you, some that are dangerous, and possibly a reason to track game in the forested north around Mount Kalaga National Park. Whether there is a crafting or pelt system is anyone's guess.

What boats are in GTA 6?
Boating is the part we are most sure about, because it is visible in official footage. Trailers show:
- Speedboats cutting across open water near Vice City
- Airboats skimming the swamps of Grassrivers
- Jet skis on busy beaches
- Small leisure and working boats around the Keys
Our GTA 6 boats page breaks these down in more detail. Water travel looks like a real alternative to roads in this map, not just a novelty.

Where are the best outdoor spots in Leonida?
Based on the regions Rockstar has named, these are the places we expect to matter most for outdoor play:
- Grassrivers, the Everglades-style swamp, for airboats and alligators
- The Leonida Keys, for open water, bridges and shallow flats
- Mount Kalaga National Park, for forests and any land-based hunting
- The beaches of Vice City, for jet skis and casual water fun
Once the game is out, we will mark confirmed spots on the interactive map.
