GTA 6 wildlife is confirmed in the official trailers, which show alligators, flamingos and other animals living across the state of Leonida. Animals look like a much bigger part of the world than in GTA 5, which fits Rockstar's take on Florida and its swamps, coasts and forests.

Here is what has been shown, where you are likely to find animals and what we expect them to add to the game.

What animals are in GTA 6?

The trailers clearly show:

  • Alligators, including in swampy areas and in situations that spill into everyday life.
  • Flamingos and other wading birds in wetland scenes.
  • Other wildlife in the background of outdoor shots, from birds to animals near the water.

Rockstar has not released a full list. We expect a wide range, given how varied Leonida's landscapes are.

Where can you find wildlife in GTA 6?

Each region of Leonida suggests different animals:

  • Grassrivers, Rockstar's Everglades, is the obvious home for alligators and wetland birds.
  • Leonida Keys points to coastal birds and marine life.
  • Mount Kalaga National Park is forested and likely hosts land animals such as deer or bears.
  • Vice City may still have the odd animal surprise, in true Florida fashion.

Are alligators dangerous in GTA 6?

The trailers present alligators as part of Leonida's chaotic charm, and it seems very likely they will be dangerous if you get too close. We expect swamp areas and waterways to carry some real risk, especially when travelling by foot or airboat.

Can you hunt or fish in GTA 6?

Rockstar has not confirmed hunting or fishing. Red Dead Redemption 2 had deep hunting and fishing systems, and Leonida's waterways make fishing in particular a strong candidate. Our fishing, hunting and boating page covers what we expect.

Why does wildlife matter in GTA 6?

Wildlife makes Leonida feel alive outside the city. It turns a drive through the swamps or a boat trip through the Keys into something unpredictable. It also feeds the game's satire, with in-game social media clips of animal encounters echoing real viral Florida videos.

We expect animals to react to the time of day and weather too, though that is not confirmed.
