GTA 6 Boats
Speedboats, airboats and jet skis are confirmed in GTA 6 trailers. Here is every boat type we have seen and where you will use them in Leonida.
On this page
GTA 6 boats are confirmed, and they look like a much bigger deal than in any GTA since Vice City. The official trailers show speedboats, airboats and jet skis, and the map of Leonida is wrapped in ocean, bays and swamp. Here is what has been shown and how we expect boating to fit in.
What boats are in GTA 6?
From the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailers and screenshots, we can see:
- Speedboats racing across open water near Vice City
- Airboats skimming the shallow swamps of Grassrivers
- Jet skis weaving around crowded beaches
- Smaller leisure and working boats moored in the Keys and harbours
Rockstar has not named any boat models, so we are sticking to types here. Expect bigger yachts and fishing boats too, given the setting, but those are not confirmed.
Where can you use boats in GTA 6?
Water covers a lot of Leonida, which is modelled on Florida. Based on the regions Rockstar has named, the best places for boats are:
- The coast and marinas around Vice City
- The swamps and channels of Grassrivers
- The islands and bridges of the Leonida Keys
- The Gulf coast around Port Gellhorn
We will mark marinas and boat spawns on the interactive map after launch.
What is an airboat in GTA 6?
An airboat is a flat-bottomed boat pushed by a large fan at the back, built for shallow swamp water. They are iconic in the Florida Everglades, and GTA 6 shows them in Grassrivers. We expect them to be the fastest way through swamp areas where cars cannot go. See our Grassrivers airboat route for a planned tour.
Will boats be used in missions?
The story has a strong water angle. Jason works for drug runners in the Keys, and his friend Cal listens in on Coast Guard radio. That makes boat chases and smuggling runs very likely in the story, though Rockstar has not described specific missions.
Can you fish from a boat in GTA 6?
Fishing is not confirmed. With this much water, we think it is likely in some form. Our fishing, hunting and boating page covers what we expect.
