GTA 6 swimming and diving look set to matter more than in any GTA before. Leonida is surrounded by sea, cut through by swamps and dotted with islands, and official images show divers swimming with a sea turtle over a coral reef near an underwater research station.

Can you swim in GTA 6?

Likely. Swimming has been in every GTA since San Andreas. GTA 3 and the original Vice City famously did not let you swim at all, and falling in the water meant death. That would be unthinkable for a Florida-style state.

Is there scuba diving in GTA 6?

The reef divers in official images are a strong hint. GTA 5 had scuba gear and submarines, with shipwrecks, sunken planes and hidden items on the seabed. Likely: GTA 6 brings back scuba diving, especially around the Leonida Keys.

What could you find underwater?

Speculation: based on GTA 5 and the Florida setting:

  • Shipwrecks and sunken drug planes, fitting the Keys smuggling story
  • Coral reefs with fish, turtles and maybe sharks. See GTA 6 wildlife.

Are alligators dangerous in the water?

Probably. Alligators are all over the GTA 6 trailers, especially in Grassrivers. Speculation: swimming in the swamps will be risky, and the animals may attack.

Will there be submarines?

GTA 5 had a small submarine for exploring the seabed. Speculation: a mini-sub returns for deep-sea exploration, though Rockstar has not shown one.
