GTA 6 Missions: How Many and What to Expect
Rockstar has not published a GTA 6 mission list. Based on past GTA games and what the trailers show, here is how many story missions to expect and what kinds of jobs Jason and Lucia will pull.

GTA 6 missions are still a mystery: Rockstar has not released a mission list, a mission count or a single mission name. What we can do is look at the studio's last few open-world games and at the three trailers, and build a fair picture of what the campaign will probably look like.
Everything on this page is expectation, not confirmed fact. We will replace it with a real mission list after 19 November 2026.
How many missions will GTA 6 have?
Nobody outside Rockstar knows. Recent Rockstar games give a useful range:
- GTA 5 had around 70 story missions, plus heists and a long tail of side content
- GTA San Andreas had roughly 100 story missions spread across three cities
- Red Dead Redemption 2 had more than 100 story missions and an epilogue
Likely: GTA 6 lands somewhere between GTA 5 and Red Dead 2, so somewhere around 70 to 100 story missions. Rockstar's games have grown with every generation, and two protagonists give the writers room for missions that belong to Jason, to Lucia, or to both.
What types of missions will be in GTA 6?
The trailers keep coming back to the same few kinds of action, so we expect those to shape most of the campaign:
- Robberies and stick-ups. Convenience stores, a jewellery store and cash-heavy businesses all appear in the footage.
- Getaways and police chases. Almost every trailer ends a crime with a chase, often on the highway or through the swamps.
- Drug running in the Keys. Jason works for Brian Heder, so smuggling runs by boat and plane fit his early story.
- Bigger planned jobs. Raul Bautista recruits crews for bank jobs, which points to larger heists.
- Favours for Vice City's music and club scene. Boobie Ike and Dre'Quan Priest run a label and a strip club, which usually means errands, protection and a few messy parties.

Will GTA 6 missions have checkpoints and medals?
GTA 5 added mid-mission checkpoints and a gold medal system with optional goals like accuracy or time limits. Red Dead 2 kept the gold medals. Likely: GTA 6 keeps both, because they make replaying missions worthwhile and they suit a game this size.
A mission replay menu is also very likely. GTA 5 and Red Dead 2 both let you replay finished story missions.
Will you play as Jason or Lucia in each mission?
GTA 5 let you switch between three characters, sometimes in the middle of a mission. GTA 6 has two playable leads, and Rockstar has said that much. Likely: many missions put both of them on screen, with some letting you switch between them during the action, and some following one character alone. Will mission choices change the story?
GTA 4 and GTA 5 both had choices that changed the ending, and GTA 5 let you pick heist approaches and crew members. Speculation: GTA 6 will offer approach choices on bigger jobs and at least one major decision near the end. For the theories about how the story ends, see GTA 6 story theories.
Where will missions take place?
Most of the story is likely to follow the regions Rockstar has named: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Once the game is out we will pin each mission start on the interactive map.

Rockstar has not said. Based on GTA 5 (around 70) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (more than 100), we expect somewhere around 70 to 100 story missions.
Is there a GTA 6 mission list?
Not yet. Any full mission list posted online before release is guesswork or comes from leaked early development footage. We will publish one after launch.
How long is the GTA 6 story?
Unknown. GTA 5's story took most players 30 to 40 hours, and Red Dead 2's took longer. GTA 6 is likely to be at least as long as GTA 5.
Can you replay missions in GTA 6?
Not confirmed, but GTA 5 and Red Dead 2 both had mission replays, so it is very likely.
