GTA 6 has been the subject of more rumours than any game in years. Here are the biggest ones, which turned out true, which are still open and which you should ignore.

GTA 6 rumours have been circulating for more than a decade. Some turned out to be spot on, many were nonsense, and a few are still open. This page sorts the biggest ones so you know what to believe before 19 November 2026.

We only list rumours that are widely discussed. Where something has been confirmed by Rockstar, we say so.

Which GTA 6 rumours turned out true?

  • A return to Vice City. Rumoured for years, confirmed by Trailer 1 in December 2023. See Vice City.
  • A female protagonist. A 2022 Bloomberg report said the game would star a Latina woman. Lucia Caminos confirmed it.
  • A Bonnie and Clyde style couple. Also from the 2022 reporting, and confirmed by the trailers. See the Jason and Lucia story.
  • The 2022 leak was real. In September 2022 a hacker posted dozens of clips of early development footage. Rockstar confirmed the breach and said it would not affect development.

Which GTA 6 rumours are still open?

  • The map will grow after launch. The 2022 report said Rockstar planned to start smaller and add areas over time. Unconfirmed. See story DLC.
  • Most buildings can be entered. A popular claim with no official backing. Our interiors page covers what has actually been shown.
  • Body changes from the gym. Fans point to the gym scenes, but Rockstar has not confirmed it. See gyms and customisation.
  • Hurricanes and dynamic storms. Heavy weather is in the trailers, hurricanes are not. See GTA 6 weather.
  • The PC version comes later. Reported, not confirmed. See our PC release page.

Which GTA 6 rumours should you ignore?

  • Full mission lists or endings posted online. Anything this detailed is either guesswork or based on very old leaked footage. See GTA 6 missions.
  • Returning-character cameos such as Tommy Vercetti. A fan favourite wish, with nothing to back it.
  • Exact map sizes quoted to the square mile. Nobody outside Rockstar has measured the final map.
  • "Insider" release changes. Rockstar has confirmed 19 November 2026. See the release date page.

Why are there so many GTA 6 rumours?

GTA 5 came out in 2013, and fans waited more than ten years for its sequel. Rockstar says very little between trailers, so every job listing, voice actor post and blurry photo turns into a theory. The 2022 leak added real footage to the mix, which made fakes easier to sell.

Was the GTA 6 leak real?

Yes. Rockstar confirmed in September 2022 that early development footage had been stolen and posted online.

Is Tommy Vercetti in GTA 6?

There is no evidence. It is a popular fan wish, not a credible rumour.

Will the GTA 6 map get bigger after launch?

A 2022 report said Rockstar planned to expand the game over time. Rockstar has not confirmed it.

Can you enter every building in GTA 6?

Almost certainly not. The trailers show many detailed interiors, but claims that most buildings are enterable are unproven.
